This guide serves as a one-stop listing of all stats forms. Internal use only.

REFERENCE STATS

 

 

 

 

WHO: All staff

WHAT: Captures every question/interaction with a patron.

WHEN: Log question/interaction at point of service after:

  • a phone call
  • face-to-face questions (in library/on Zoom)
  • a chat in LibAnswers
  • answering a Ticket in LibAnswers
  • answering an email (outside of Ticket system)*

Note: Chats & Tickets automatically prompt you to fill out this form

Reference stats form upon close so you don't need to log

using this link. 

INCLUDES: Any questions, such as:

  • library hours/services
  • help finding/accessing articles
  • research help
  • circulation help (including ILL & OhioLINK) 
  • referrals to a librarian
  • general/directional or scanning/copying
  • citation management
  • etc

*not recommended; all emails should be handled in Tickets       


 

 

WHO: All reference staff 

(Vivian, Stephanie, Tom, Jessica, Melissa)

WHAT: Captures data about one-on-one or small group 

reference consultations (e.g., literature/systematic reviews, 

database instruction, citation management questions, etc.)

WHEN: Two options:

  • Log incrementally after every consultation w/ a patron   
    • Only include time spent since last interaction 
    • Best for ongoing consultations
  • Log once after completing all work with a patron
    • Include ALL time spent
    • Best practice: keep a time log   

Be sure to log both prep & consultation time.         

 

 

HEC STATS

 

WHO: HEC circulation desk staff (Patty)

WHAT: Captures the number of patrons in the HEC                      

quiet study space each hour.

WHEN: Daily

out books each hour at the HEC 

WHEN: Daily

 

TRAINING STATS

WHO: Instruction & Training staff 

(Stephanie, Vivian, Tom, Jessica, Melissa)

WHAT: Captures data about any group instruction/training:

  • Course-related & non-course related
  • Synchronous & asynchronous

Includes entire training lifecycle from planning to completion.          

WHEN: Add training at first request; update progress as needed
