Overview of Covidence

The Role of Covidence in a SR

Covidence comes in after the Literature Search.  That is to say, the use of the Covidence platform begins with the importation of search results (citations).  For assistance with a literature search, please email askCHSL@case.edu and a librarian will contact you to set up a time to discuss your information needs.  For more information about conducting a systematic review, please consult the CHSL Systematic Review Service page.

What kind of citation file formats can be imported into Covidence?

  • Research Information Systems (RIS) formatted citations (Embase, Scopus, Endnote, etc.)
  • PubMed text only files. Citations need to be exported from PubMed via the Save citations to file function and PubMed is the format selected from the Save Citations to File dropdown menu.
  • Endnote XML files and/or Endnote RIS files

Save Citations to File in PubMed

Covidence is NOT a reference/citation manager --> it's more of a project management platform

Once your citations are in Covidence, you and your team will perform the Title/Abstract screening, Fulltext Screening, and Data Extraction.
